Where are the cameras?

So my dad and I were on the road the other day near Ashok Gardens (Bowenpally.. plz no lol). Suddenly my dad got very slow. He pulled over and stopped to the side of the road near an electrical shop. I started wondering if it was for another bulb for the verandah or something. The thought itself kind of made me dull. But my dad said "Choodu road meeda ela mekulu posaro daridrulu". (Look at the nails on the road...) I was bewildered. It was true. There were around 15 - 20 nails each about 2.5" long scattered all over the place. Some of them were even bent. Moreover that road was kind of a junction where atleast 50 vehicles pass-by every minute.

My dad said - "Start picking them up. But be cautious of the traffic." And he started collecting the nails, maneuvering through the traffic clogged area. Some of the drivers were even annoyed. I was not sure what he was doing. Is he serious? Will he be using those nails or something? Anyway, overcoming my embarrassment and shy, I picked up a nail that was lying nearby. My dad returned in about 2 minutes with some 10 nails in his hands. Two passers-by also brought some nails and gave them to me as if I were the government appointed Chief-road-nail-collector! But they were definitely inspired by my dad, I felt. One guy, on an age-old Bajaj Chetak, stopped and said to my dad while handing over another nail to him- "Chutiya loga hain saab. Aap aaj nikaloge toh phir bhi kal yehi haalat hogi!" (gist: Don't bother to pick 'em up. The condition will be the same tomorrow again) It was like one of those love thy nation-advertisements. (Except my dad is not a very big fan of India himself) I kind of felt proud of my dad.

Here's the real kicker. I later found out from a pani-puri chat wallah that those nails were actually put there, by some of the mechanic shop guys. It made so much more sense. I took a look around and not just very far away, were strewn some 10 different shops which repaired punctured tyres and jammed motors. "Nailed it" I thought! Does such decrying aftermath exist only in India? - I wondered...

(Comments really needed for this one)
